Studio Process: Applied Composition Research

In preparation for my studio work this quarter, I conducted some research on master compositions in order to elevate my sense of unity and balance. I chose to focus specifically on dynamic armatures that incorporated both diagonals and circles, which lend themselves especially well to the depiction of crocheted patterns.

The slides, comparisons, and composite images below show how I have incorporated these armatures into my paintings to achieve unity, balance, and rhythm.
